Join in protecting this wonderful piece of English countryside
The Standen Fruit Farm Community Association is a UK charity that works to maintain this historic Kentish orchard. It’s run entirely by volunteers who give up their time to ensure that the 50+ acres provide a haven for wildlife and that the extensive number of apple and cherry trees are looked after for the benefit of all.
We welcome new members to the Association who share the ideals of the founders who had the vision to protect this important site in the 1980s.
AGM and Apple Day 2020
The Standen Fruit Farm Community Association AGM took place on Sunday 27 September 2020 in Benenden Village Hall. Video conference facilities were available to those unable to attend in person.
At 1.00 p.m., the traditional Apple Day got underway at the Orchard. This is when the the Orchard Association and its members invite you to come and visit their plots. As well as finding out about the Orchard and the Association, visitors could pick apples, browse the local produce stalls and take part in a cider apple picking initiative with our new partners, Bignose and Beardy. Some people employed novel techniques to get the apples towards the top of trees...
Despite blustery, cold weather, there was a great turnout and the feedback we received from visitors was hugely positive. There's now a growing list of people who are interested in buying plots in the Orchard!
Volunteer! There are so many ways to lend a helping hand
We always need volunteers for winter pruning of trees through to apple picking in the autumn.
We welcome new volunteers to the small family that ensures Standen Street Fruit Farm is maintained for today and for future generations.
